Who is Zen Master Avatar Prem Anadi
Bunny Rabbit The Third?
Hmm, well, let’s see. We’ll go back a little
beyond his childhood to try to find answers
to this question.
Before being born, Bunny played the part of
a go-between. He helped Meher Baba to
communicate with the universe. I can’t claim
to know quite what that means, but he says
it’s true and I believe him. He is a liar mind
you, and he makes no bones about it. But
his lies have always proven to be worth
believing. They have secrets hidden within them that could not be unveiled in any other way, and these secrets are very good for you. Now that I mention it, Bunny’s ability to know what is ‘good for you’ is very real; his ability to deliver this goodness is profound.
Bunny lives with Osho, Meher Baba and Babajan, known to Bunny as, ‘the boys’. I don’t think they have a shared tenancy agreement or anything, but they always seem to be with him, and he can talk to them anytime, despite the fact that they are currently without bodies. This is Bunny’s first time in a body.
Petunia (a fellow disciple of Bunny’s) and I once spent a few weeks with him in India and found, much to our surprise, that he spends a lot of time playing with a small chain with a stone on the end, and that when he is doing this, he is communicating with the universe. I wonder if the boys are his go-betweens. Sometimes he asks them questions, which seems to be much more down to earth than one might imagine. I remember him saying that arguing with Babajan is like arguing with a wasp. On another occasion, I asked him to ask Osho a particular question for me and he said he didn’t want to because Osho would just go on and on at him for hours.
Bunny is a Reiki master. He has called Reiki, the ‘language of the universe’.
I sometimes wonder if the language of the universe isn’t at the heart of everything Bunny has ever done for me. The more I resonate with Bunny-ness, the more I recognise this language as being what the whole universe is made of. Sometimes, as I walk from my car to work, the leaves sing in this language, and the golden autumn morning light shines in this language, and I am here and now, part of this language.
Oh, I almost forgot! Bunny is so silly. He loves to be silly, and he loves a good story... to tell one and to read one. Oh, and he is very considerate. He is exceptionally careful with his words so as to reduce the possibility of misunderstandings taking place.
You know, it’s funny. Years ago I asked Bunny if I might write a book about him. He replied that of course I couldn’t. However, I could go ahead and write about me and my relationship with him (which, incidentally, is a project that I have found very difficult to complete). Now he has suggested that I might like to write the ‘about the author’ page for the website, and it is not at all easy.
I suppose the most important thing to anyone who might be considering becoming a disciple of Bunny’s, is to understand that he really is a zen master. He has unfailingly loved, supported, guided, challenged and whatever else has been necessary for me to move inwards and come to know myself. More or less every day he has been there, on the other end of the email, giving. He has travelled half the world to meet us in India, and proposes similar annual events to come. He has asked nothing from me in exchange. Bunny is not acting out of some intellectual understanding of what it is to be a zen master, nor about meditation.
